1/7/2012 Guangzhou!

We are in Guangzhou!
This post is from Saturday, 1/7/12
We made it to GZ late last night. The flight turned out to be 6 hours but with the time difference between Dubai and GZ and the time from airport into our hotel room, it was 11:30 pm when we entered the room.
We woke rather early this morning, went for breakfast and then to a local shop to inquire about laundry service. Sterling was doing very well when we first entered the shop and even picked out an item for his sister but when we started to walk further into the shop, he lost it. He started showing institutional behavior that we have not seen in a very long time. We didn't notice it so much at first but it continued to worsen and we immediately left. Sterling continued to worsen, to the point dad thought he was having seizure activity because he was jerking, twitching, off-balance, tripping and couldn't walk, had the glaze/distance/lost look in his eyes and the fingers were going. We quickly ruled out a seizure and were assured it was his early institutional behaviors that we saw in him when we brought him home from China, 2 years ago. We are not exactly sure what triggered the behavior but we are taking it easy, cutting him a lot slack and returning to the room as needed. If you will please pray for Sterling and his comfort.
We have not seen a lot of adoptive families around the island but we only spent a couple of hours walking around, earlier this morning. HOpefully, as the week progresses, we will see other families around the island.
We are so happy with our hotel room..it is beautiful! We never imagined our room would be so nice! There is a computer in the room, which I am using to type this message. :-) I need to double check and be sure there's no extra charge to use this comput. That's all we need is an outrageous bill for computer usage. The room is spacious, new and clean! The bathrooms are also beautiful and spacious but, they are all marble which makes for a dangerous combination with children. We plan to request extra towels and leave them layed out on the floor to keep it safe.
Now for the most important information-tomorrow we are united with Arabella! We are anxiously awaiting for tomorrow! We meet the guide in our hotel lobby at noon and will go from there with a 2:30 meeting time!
I've been experiencing trouble blogging via email and never set up a VPN prior to our travels. Thankfully, Kelly has graciously offered up her assistance in posting on our behalf.
