Happy Birthday, Arabella!!
Our beautiful daughter turned 12 years old, last Saturday, on October 11 and yesterday, we celebrated with friends, at the skating rink! She wanted a skating party. I find it quite amazing, how skating parties come natural for girls....I'm guessing it's in the gene's. (ha,ha) What is it about girls and skating. Must admit, it was fun, fun, fun! The girls all had a great time and even Sterling got into the action and skated around the rink and by himself! It was great watching sweet Arabella having fun with all her friends. It's been a very tough start to the school year and she needed and deserved some good true fun with friends. We are truly blessed that she has great friends & friends with great parents!

Dossier Out of Translation!
We received word that our dossier is out of translation! This is another big step in the right direction. YEA!!!
What does this mean?
It means that all the mounds and mounds of paperwork that was submitted to China (called a dossier) has been translated from English to Mandarin. Yep, every single page and let me tell you, there are pounds and pounds of pages, no exaggeration! I pity the poor person sitting at their desk, translating all these documents. It's got be a tedious job! I can't even imagine.
Well, our dossier is now sitting on someone else's desk...or perhaps, in a file, on the computer, waiting for the next step.
Next step is the, "Letter Seeking Confirmation," or simply, LSC. In our prior adoptions, it was known as, "LOA" or Letter Of Approval. It seems the name has now changed but either way, it's another step closer to our boys!!!
We are told current wait times vary and there is no rhyme or reason. Some have received their Letter Seeking Confirmation in 8 weeks, while others it has taken 90+ days. One family, waited 120 days..I can't even imagine! I do know that since we are adopting 2 boys at once, it will take extra time for both sets of paperwork to end up on the correct desk placed with our file; and, one of our boys is not currently housed at the orphanage but rather, he is enlisted in the care of a mission, "Love Without Boundaries," so I'm wondering if that will add extra time for the processing of his paperwork.
The last we heard, the office who is holding our dossier (ie: mounds of paperwork), will review it for identification of our boys and in turn, contact each of the orphanages, to request the boys' files. From there, the orphanage forwards the information to the dossier office and at that time, the Letter Seeking Confirmation are printed for each boy and jetted here, to the USA for our signature. Now, while this sounds like a simple and quick process, it's anything but...we are waiting for our file to reach the top of the stack (or que) and once the orphanage is contacted, that's a whole different story. They have their own sense of urgency and let me tell you, it's a completely different sense of urgency than what we feel. I've learned with adoption, nothing is speedy. It's a game of waiting and the testing of patience. Perhaps it's God's way of preparing us for our children, allowing us a lesson of patience. <smile>
